George Herbert wrote passionately of the joys and struggles in his deep relationship with Christ. Herber’s loving contemplation of his Lord led to poetry that is suffused with fresh language and insight into Reformed Christianity. His vigorous faith, which flourished in the midst of suffering, provides a reliable, gentle guide into Christian maturity. Gerrit Dawson invites readers to explore 32 of Herbert’s best poems through daily readings. Dawson eases the way into 17th century language by providing clear previews of each poem and helpful definitions of any difficult words. Each day offers both commentary on the poem and application for daily life.
This book is out of print and difficult to find. Keep an eye on Bookfinder.com. If we can’t find enough copies by summer I’ll scan the sections we need and distribute as a PDF.
